 About our Panelists 

Angela C. Beard, Ph.D., Director of Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at City University of Seattle

With more than 30 years nonprofit experience Angela C. Beard, Ph.D., is Director of Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at City University of Seattle. Her fundraising career spans from grants manager for Pacific Northwest Ballet to consultant to local and national organizations including an extensive study of fundraising practices in social justice organizations.  Dr. Beard currently teaches at Seattle University and Everett Community College and serves on the board of PSGA.

Sylvie McGee, grants consultant and grantwriting teacher

As a successful grant writer with over 25 years of experience, Sylvie has raised millions of funds for a variety of organizations ranging from nonprofits, housing authorities, school districts, to city and county departments.  She has taught at several colleges and universities, including currently the University of WA

Kerry Flory, grants consultant

Kerry Flory, a former global medical editor/writer, has worked as nonprofit human service grants and contracts manager for over 7 years.  She was most recently grants manager at Solid Grounds.


Moderated by Alison Pride, grants writer

Alison Pride works with a variety of nonprofits clients as a freelance grantwriter and also as a grantwriting instructor for the Fundraising Management Certificate Program at the University of Washington-Tacoma. She comes to grantwriting from a background in journalism which included writing both hard news and feature stories, and editing her college newspaper

  • If you have questions you would like to ask panelists or presenters, please send them to the PSGA office
  • Your help is needed to set up the room prior to the event.  If you can join other volunteers at 11:15 to help set up chairs and tables, please send an email to [email protected].
  • Current members may continue to bring a friend to one lunch program this year at the member rate (FREE).  When guests register, enter the name of the member who sent the invitation.
  • PSGA does not serve food or beverages. You are welcome to bring your own food and eat while you listen. FareStart Café, located on the 2nd floor of the building, offers beverages and food.

  • Join the PSGA Listserv! After logging in on the PSGA website, you can sign up for the listserv from the members' welcome page. It is a forum where PSGA members exchange information and seek answers to grant-related questions.
  • For the health and comfort of all event participants, we ask that you refrain from wearing strong fragrances while attending PSGA events. Many people are allergic and/or sensitive to fragrances. Please use in moderation when wearing perfume, cologne, or scented lotions.

About our lunchtime programs:

Lunchtime meetings offer a special guest presenter or panel discussion, with Q&A. Come at 11:30 to chat with others in the nonprofit world. Online registration is normally available no less than 3 weeks before the event date.
